Specialties

I work with children and adults on a range of issues, including:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Relationships
  • Grief and loss
  • Life transitions

I also work with couples seeking help with:

  • Communication
  • Emotional connection
  • Managing conflict

Children

With children, I focus particularly on helping those ages 8 – 13 with issues including anxiety, emotional dysregulation, and grief and loss. My work includes helping children identify and put words to their feelings, as well as, using such techniques as sand tray, art activities, and collaborative storytelling, helping them process those feelings and the experiences underlying them. I also meet regularly with parents to help them understand what their children may be going through and to support them in supporting their children.

When appropriate, I am willing to meet with children via telehealth, but I generally prefer to see them (particularly younger children) in person.

Couples

With couples, I work within an emotionally-focused framework that emphasizes helping each partner identify their underlying desire for closeness and security, as well as the destructive patterns of interaction that can result when those needs are threatened. I also work with couples on their communication, generally still within an attachment framework, drawing on the nonviolent communication model.

If you are unsure if I would be right for you, I encourage you to contact me and ask me about my experience. It’s the best way to choose a therapist.
